Job Description
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Superintendent to elevate themselves to a Technical Manager with a world leading OSV owner. This post is based in West Africa and gives true progression opportunities.
- Supervise all technical activities of the Area fleet & Area technical department with authorization from Area Manager to take administrative & technical decisions as considered appropriate.
- Liaise with Shipyard and equipment suppliers to ensure prompt settlement of warranty issues.
- Preparation of vessel budgets and presentation to Area Manager for approval.
- Monitor budgetary performance and ensure cost effective management of vessels.
- Vetting of vessel stores and spares requisitions, approval of purchases, and ensuring effective and timely material delivery to the vessels.
- On a daily basis update the Area Manager in matters appertaining to ship operation, incidents and budgetary performance of Area fleet vessels.
- Ensure effective implementation of Company’s safety management system and environmental policy on board vessels.
- Ensure effective implementation and management of Company’s Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Evaluate critical spare inventory and distribution to ensure maximum vessel service reliability.
- Maintain close contact and good working relationship with clients and their representatives involved with onboard operations of Company’s vessels.
- Monitor vessel condition through daily review of vessel technical reports and regular on board inspections.
- Monitor and maintain vessel equipment and operating performance in synchronization with Company’s vessel specifications.
- Prepare specifications for major refits, dry-docking & major repairs as required.
- Liaise with Company appointed dry-dock superintendents and monitor progress and cost status of vessels under their direct supervision.
- Ensure effective training, supervision, and appraisal of junior engineer officers and provide general guidance to vessel engineers through day to day operational involvement.
- In conjunction with Crewing Department vetting of CV data of applicants for on board and shore based technical appointments.
- Any other duties assigned by the Area Manager.
Requirements
- First class chief engineer Certificate of Competency.
- Minimum 3 Year’s experience as Chief Engineer on Anchor Handling and Platform Supply vessels
- Minimum 3 years experience as Engineering Superintendent working with Anchor Handling and Platform
