Job Description

We are looking for Night Duty NURSE for our UK Buckinghamshire hospital.

  • To demonstrate a consistently high standard of nursing care
  • To act as a role model for other members of staff
  • To manage, direct and evaluate clinical care for a defined group of patients
  • To contribute to the continuing development of professional nursing practice in the clinical environment
  • To act as a mentor to nurse learners and preceptor to junior members of the nursing staff.


Requirements

Suitable candidates are required:

  • Very good command of written and spoken English!!
  • Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian or any other EU country citizenship
  • At least 3 year work experience as nurse in past 5 years or recently obtained qualification.
  • To communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of UKCC Professional Codes and an awareness of Hospital Policies
  • Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Articulate and knowledgeable about current health care issues
  • Evidence of competency in area of practice
  • To provide care based on sound knowledge and current research findings
  • To accept responsibility and be professionally accountable for co-ordinating total nursing care for a defined group of patients.
  • Promote a patient centered style of clinical practice, maintaining accurate and legible records of patient care
  • Demonstrate a consistently high standard of nursing care, developing care standards and monitoring their effectiveness
  • Maintain a learning and supportive environment
  • Ensure the storage and administration of drugs is conducted with adherence to hospital policies
  • To abide by UKCC Code of Conduct at all times and practice within the UKCC Scope of Professional Practice, adhering to Company/Hospital policies and procedures
Professional development and educational role:
  • Attend all mandatory training requirements
  • Keep up to date with professional issues, promoting evidenced based care and embracing new ideas that influence nursing practice relating to area of practice
  • Participate in formal and informal review/appraisal of own performance
  • To define own learning and development needs and devise objectives for achieving goals with appraiser
  • Maintain record evidence of professional development
  • To act as a mentor to nurse learners and preceptor to junior nurses reflecting on own skills and competence enabling a supportive learning environment
  • Induct new members of staff to the ward
  • Communicate accurately whether verbally or in written form

Management and organizational role
  • Ensure effective use of available resources whilst exercising economy in the use of consumables, promoting an awareness of budgetary implications by demonstrating a full understanding of the charging systems.
  • Participate in the investigation of customer complaints or critical incidents
  • To develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Regularly take charge of the ward, participating in the allocation of workload and ensuring effective patient care
  • After orientation programme take senior nurse responsibility for a night shift – ensuring all nursing admin duties are completed.
  • In the event of an unexpected deterioration of a patients condition -co-ordinate a patient transfer, oversee management of a deteriorating patient and contact consultants and all relevant multi-disciplinary teams as required to provide optimum safe care to the patient
  • Be prepared to take charge of the Hospital in the absence of the person holding continuing overall responsibility following administration training
  • Health & Safety - To co-operate in maintaining the requirements of all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, Related Codes of practice and Safety instructions
  • Data Protection – Maintain responsibility in complying with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Code of Practice on Confidentiality.
