Your Role at Cabot

You will source raw materials for multiple sites, using established contracts for centrally sourced items and/or through the selection of vendors and suppliers for non-centrally sourced items. Your role as Senior Buyer will have responsibility for managing certain raw materials and may negotiate local contracts.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • You will be responsible for purchasing complex and high-value raw materials for one of Cabot’s specialty business divisions. Buy from established contracts in the case of centrally sourced items; set up and manage bid requests for independently sourced items.
  • Work with internal customers to identify understand and translate purchasing needs and perform related purchasing activities, such as generation of documents, purchase orders and approving purchase orders within pre-established spending limits.
  • Identify and implement most cost effective and efficient way to purchase small and/or local items. Uses various methods and tools, such as extending payment terms, and blanket orders to minimize cost and administrative time. Coordinates implementation of all purchasing tools.
  • Research information and develop new cost-effective sources. Establishe and maintain a supply base for products and services purchased. Reduce number of active suppliers for products and purchases.
  • Foster and maintain positive business relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services that meet quality, timing and price terms. Resolve commercial conflicts and coordinates quality claims through Purchasing Managers, in the case of centrally managed suppliers, or directly with local suppliers as appropriate. Coordinate purchasing details with vendors and internal groups.
  • Evaluate supplier performance for Regional or Global purchased items as required. Report findings pertaining to elimination or reduction of costs, as well as other relevant metrics and statistics. Analyse trends and identifies opportunities for additional efficiencies.
  • Support efforts to implement and maintain sustainability and regulatory initiatives (for example, ISCC+ and EcoVadis), as applicable to the site/region.
  • Participate and support product management and/or product development projects as necessary.
  • Identify and highlight potential cost saving opportunities to the purchasing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • 3–5 years experience in procurement or buying roles, preferably in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement governance and compliance requirements.
  • Detail-oriented and process-driven.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with digital procurement tools and analytics.
  • In-depth knowledge of tactical sourcing and category execution.
  • Understanding category traits (market conditions, suppliers, news & trends & performance metrics, and escalation protocols).
  • Knowledge of global procurement policies and audit requirements.
  • Experience with Coupa or similar e-procurement platforms.
  • Fluent in English

  • Salary: 2300 - 3150 EUR Gross. The final salary offer will depend on the candidate’s previous experience and qualifications.
