Job Description

The Operations Engineer is responsible for performing support and complex/first office application deployment activities, working independently or leading a technical team and is regarded as a subject matter expert in field

Responsibility:
Responsible for one or more customers within a defined region for several products

• Resolve customer support requests in accordance with customer service levels
• Implement complex/first office application customer systems in accordance with agreed schedule to required quality standards
• Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with the relevant quality processes
• Ensure customer satisfaction levels exceed targets
• Mentor Engineers
• Subject Matter Experts within field
• Recommends product improvements to development and product management

Customer Support

• Perform cross product support including complex system recovery
• Diagnoses and isolates complex cross product inter working issues
• Writes advanced/complex methods of procedures
• Reviews methods of procedures written by peers
• Approves knowledge articles
• Writes knowledge articles for complex issues resolved
• Makes recommendations to product management and development to improve the supportability and maintainability of products
• Participates in 24 hr on incident out of hours rotation
• Lead technical teams as required
• Communicate, negotiate and influence advanced/complex support issues up to senior management level

Deployment

• Performs and/or leads advanced deployment activities, including first office applications, encompassing system design, upgrade plans, creation of technical product documentation, acceptance testing, installation, integration of software and customer consultancy
• Writes advanced/complex methods of procedures
• Undertakes integration of multiple Telco products within a complex environment

The job is located at Brno (czech republic)

Requirements

1. Academic skills:

• Bachelor degree within the IT or equivalent
• ITIL Service foundation certification preferred
• Fluency in English both verbal and written, with second languages preferable

2. Technical skills:

• Minimum of 2 years experience with one of the following operating systems: OpenVMS/Unix preferably with formal certification
• Capable of writing UNIX shell scripts to automate tasks
• Ability to read application source code
• Minimum of 2 years product knowledge acquired through empirical and formal certification and 2 years product inter-working experience gained within customer environments
• Capable of troubleshooting and diagnosing complex enterprise server hardware and have the necessary knowledge to make recommendations to improve performance
• Minimum of 2 years experience in configuring, troubleshooting and optimizing complex TCP/IP Networks (where required). Preferably formally certified
• Minimum of 2 years experience in configuring, troubleshooting and optimizing Telco protocols

3. Personal skills:

• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills using industry recognized troubleshooting methodologies
• Organized approach and ability to work independently
• The ability to communicate, negotiate and influence technical information and concepts up to senior management level
• Ability to lead teams in the execution of technical activities
• An ability to remain calm, focused and able to prioritize tasks when working within a high under pressure environment

4. Professional experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience in the computer or telecoms industry within a mission critical environment

5. Other:

• Demonstrates flexibility and high tolerance to travel
