Job Description

WHO WE ARE?

Being the daughter company of Swisscom - leading telecommunications company and one of the most sustainable and innovative companies in Switzerland - we share the same values, vision and goals.

As a trustworthy and efficient Swisscom IT service partner, we create valuable customer experiences. We work in a strong collaboration with our Partners in Switzerland and attract and retain high performers.

We're expanding our footprint in Riga and actively seeking 50+ DevOps Engineers to join our growing teams within this year.

We invite driven professionals to join us, grow with us, and help shape the future.

The team/project:

The Massmarket Internet Device team develops and tests Swisscom's Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) - the internet devices used by millions of customers every day. Our portfolio includes the Internet-Box, WLAN-Box, and 5G Fixed Mobile Receivers, state-of-the-art gateways providing internet access via LAN, WLAN, and DECT.

The project: Ensure product quality through manual testing, automated testing, and customer issue analysis. Lead the evolution of our test automation suite (Python, Robot Framework, GitLab CI/CD) toward an AI-native testing approach.

You'll work in a small, focused team embedded within the broader Swisscom SDC Riga organization, collaborating closely with Product Management and DevOps Engineers in Switzerland to deliver reliable, high-quality networking devices.

You will:

  • Perform manual testing of firmware releases (sanity, feature, regression)
  • Analyse and reproduce issues raised by customers to support triage and resolution
  • Translate feature requirements into fully functioning test cases. Own the entire process from requirements gathering and test design through implementation (Python/Robot Framework), production deployment, and maintenance.
  • Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for test execution across multiple product lines (Internet-Box, WLAN-Box, 5G FMR)
  • Troubleshoot test failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with the firmware supplier on fixes and feature changes to influence product quality
  • Lead the test suite organization and ensure tests are structured, non-redundant, and coverage gaps are visible
  • Monitor and ensure operational readiness of remote physical test setups
  • Drive evolution toward AI-assisted testing: declarative test definitions, LLM-based code generation, automated log analysis

Requirements

  • 2+ years in test automation or software testing
  • Solid Python skills: reading, writing, debugging daily
  • Experience with Robot Framework or similar test automation frameworks
  • Understanding of IP networking: DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, WLAN fundamentals
  • Hands-on Linux and CLI troubleshooting
  • Git and version control workflows
  • Comfortable using AI tools (Claude, Copilot) for development and troubleshooting
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Structured and proactive working style
  • Strong English (spoken and written) since it’s the primary language in the team

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded networking hardware (firmware updates, serial console, device management)
  • GitLab CI/CD pipeline design
  • Advanced prompt engineering and experience integrating LLMs into test workflows
  • Device management protocols (TR-069, TR-369/USP) or TR-181 data models
  • Degree in CS, IT, EE or equivalent practical experience
  • German is a plus
