Requirements

The Position/Role

The Night Manager supervises the staff of the entire hotel during the overnight shift and reports directly to the Assistant Front Desk Manager. The Night Manager is the direct supervisor of the Front Office during the overnight shift.  The Night Manager responds to a wide variety of guest requests by accurately assessing the guest needs and requests and then adding personal recommendations and touches to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities at the Front Office during the overnight shift
  • Ensures communications and follow-up with day shift on any complain, guest requests or special requirements
  • Tour the hotel and monitor the activities of all other departments
  • Monitor all department activities to assure that standards are being met, staff is being supported and guest needs are being met
  • Personally handle all guest relocations according to established guidelines (if applicable)
  • Resolve customer complaints from all areas of the hotel, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible
  • Assist customers in all inquiries in connection with hotel services, hours of operations, key hotel personnel, in-house events, directions, etc
  • Review late arrivals, next day early arrivals and departures to plan for the next day’s activities. 
  • Coordinate arrivals, departures and billing requirements.
  • Review daily arrivals to ensure proper handling of Special Attention Guests, Return Guests, and Groups
  • Assure that all financial and credit procedures are followed
  • Take action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of hotel guests and employees without requiring special direction
  • Respond swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation
  • Check guest in and out in an efficient and friendly manner, using guest name whenever possible
  • Assure that guest is assigned type of room requested and the correct rate is charged
  • Check out guest at end of stay; ascertain guest satisfaction, collects keys, posts late charges and presents bill to guest.  Settles bill accurately through credit card or cash transaction
  • Process and reconcile charges for overnight parking
  • Utilise a variety of computer systems to check guests in and out, run daily reports, run night audit reports, and select and block rooms for arriving guests
  • Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors
  • Act as an ambassador for the hotel, displaying a great sense of style and integrity and conveying to the guest a sense of knowledge and assurance
  • Perform other tasks and projects as delegated by management
  • Keep management fully informed of all activities of the Front Desk operations overnight
  • Deal effectively with glitches until complete guest satisfaction is obtained
  • Inform senior management and complete glitch reports and daily follow up
  • Handle guest problems or complaints in conjunction with Management, keeping them well informed as to the problems and actions taken
  • Communicate to all support departments any necessary information or requests
  • Work with the Accounting Department to ensure policy and procedures are followed

Who You Are

  • 1+ years of previous Rooms Division supervisory or management experience required
  • Experience in a luxury hotel/resort required
  • Knowledge of French Alps or Megève and surrounding areas, highly desirable, however not required
  • Must be flexible with schedule- Able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, evening/overnight shifts
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the French language
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Ability to handle computer systems (related to schedule, purchase, guest lists, guest activities reports etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead a team
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests
  • Ability to remain calm during challenging situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

 

This position is not eligible for work sponsorship/visa. Candidates must possess valid French/European work authorization
